چکیده

PurposeTo determine the reliability of subjective and objective quantification mitral annular calcification (MAC) in elderly patients with severe aortic stenosis, to define quantitative sex- age-related reference values MAC, correlate MAC valve disease.MethodsIn this retrospective, IRB-approved study, we included 559 (268 females, median age 81 years, inter-quartile range 77–85 years) stenosis undergoing CT. Four independent readers performed categorization as follows: no, mild, moderate, MAC. Two evaluation using Agatston score method (AgatstonMAC). Mitral disease was determined by echocardiography.ResultsSubjective showed high inter-reader agreement for no (k = 0.88) 0.75), whereas moderate 0.59) mild 0.45) moderate. Intra-reader substantial 0.69 0.62). Inter- intra-reader AgatstonMAC were excellent (ICC 0.998 0.999, respectively), minor inconsistencies involving left ventricular outflow tract/aortic valve. There significantly more women than men (n 227, 85% versus n 209, 72%; p < 0.001), a higher (median 597, 81–2055 244; 0–1565; particularly ≥85 years age. an area-under-the-curve 0.84 diagnose there association regurgitation (p > 0.05).ConclusionsOur study shows that scoring is reliable assessment. Women show scores men, population. accuracy stenosis.

Large Caseous Mitral Annular Calcification

A 68-year-old woman presented with exertional dyspnea, angina, and syncope. She was undergoing renal dialysis (3 times weekly, for one year) and was taking nifedipine for hypertension. Laboratory results suggested secondary hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemia. Auscultation revealed a severe systolic murmur at the left upper parasternal border and a moderate diastolic murmur at the cardiac ape...

Functional mitral stenosis in patients with massive mitral annular calcification.

Mitral insufficiency with mitral annular calcification occurring predominantly in elderly females has been described. We studied six patients with mitral diastolic obstruction associated with mitral annular calcification without stenosis of the mitral leaflets. Three were males and three were females, aged 43-77 years. All had significant diastolic gradients across the mitral valve (mean gradie...

Intracardiac pseudotumor caused by mitral annular calcification.

The current report describes a rare case of a pseudotumor in the left ventricle. Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography demonstrated a round, echodense, mobile mass attached to the posterior mitral leaflet and annulus. At surgical exploration caseous annular calcification of the posterior mitral leaflet was diagnosed. After resection of the mass, successful mitral valvular plasty wa...

Mitral annular calcification – An overview Mitral anuler kalsifikasyon - Derleme

Calcification of the mitral annulus has long been considered as a benign condition. However, recent investigations have shed a light on this condition. According to the severity of the disease, the result may be regurgitation or rarely stenosis of the mitral valve. In addition to the local effects, mitral annular calcification is considered as a surrogate for systemic inflammation, widespread c...

Mitral annular calcification as a cause of mitral valve gradients.

BACKGROUND Mitral annular calcification (MAC) is common, particularly in the elderly. While thought to occasionally produce significant mitral regurgitation, it is considered a rare cause of mitral stenosis. METHODS Echocardiogram reports from general cardiology outpatients were searched for phrases regarding severe MAC and, separately, for mitral stenosis. Rheumatic disease or other mitral v...
